Overview

ThoughtExchange is a cloud-based, AI-powered engagement platform that helps organizations collect and act on large-scale community feedback through structured, two-way exchanges. Participants contribute and evaluate ideas, enabling leaders to surface collective insights for better decision-making.

A key stage in the workflow comes after participation, when leaders analyze results, identify themes, and share outcomes. This “results” phase turns feedback into action—supporting informed decisions and transparent communication back to the community. It has been an ongoing, evolving area of improvement over the past eight years.

The Problem

The platform’s existing results experience was limited.

Leaders had access to only a small set of statistics and highlights, which made it difficult to fully analyze Exchange outcomes. Compared to competitor platforms, the results dashboard lacked depth, clarity, and reporting capabilities.

As a result, many customers were using ThoughtExchange to collect feedback, but turning to third-party tools like Panorama to analyze and present results — breaking the end-to-end experience the platform aimed to provide.

Core issue

Leaders had no simple way to generate (export) reports or share results with participants for broader distribution, resulting in churn and utilizing 3rd party companies.

My Approach & Solution

Collaboration & Product Planning with Research & Competitor Analysis

This initiative focused on delivering a scalable, leader-focused results experience. In partnership with Product, I prioritized analytics, reporting, and sharing capabilities based on rollout strategy and leader needs. Competitive research across analytics and survey platforms revealed a gap in flexible, customizable reporting — reinforcing the need for clarity, hierarchy, and exportability.

I translated requirements into low-fidelity concepts and iterated quickly with Product and Engineering, aligning visualizations to existing chart libraries to accelerate delivery while maintaining a cohesive, branded experience.

Impacted outcome

The redesigned results & reporting experience strengthened the final stage of the product journey. We successfully:

  • Enabled leaders to analyze participation data directly within the platform
  • Reduced reliance on third-party reporting tools
  • Introduced clearer visualizations and structured analytics
  • Made it easier to export and share results with participants

The result A structured results hub with clear entry points, surfaced leadership metrics, and a shareable reporting flow — empowering leaders to communicate insights confidently and efficiently. Most importantly, leaders could now close the loopturning community feedback into insight, decisions, and transparent communication.
